A discussion among friends came up where one friend wasn't sure how much to spend on a gift for their new partner. There is ALWAYs the concern that you don't want to overspend and create a buying war, but also you don't want to under spend and feel like you cheated them...
So I started by saying, it ALWAYS the gift that counts... that only went so far. So after a few moments of talking about some really cute ideas for something personable and thoughtful the question arose... "But what if I don't spend enough?"
And then it hit me! I said, "Maybe you should create a Weekend Excursion Itinerary that would cost about what you think they will be spending with a cute little flier ect. It would cost you nothing but a little time... You can choose, then to give it to them based on the gift you receive vs the gift you give.
"Why didn't you book anything?" : "Well we have to settle on a date that works for both of us."
Choose somewhere fun!! And if you need some help deciding... well Check out some of the amazing Blogs right here on "Just the Tip 4 the Trip!"
Happy Holidays... and You're welcome ;-D
Hi. My name is Brian Lee and I’m addicted to Traveling …
Getting to know the person whose blog is going to help either prepare you for travel or inspire you to travel is pretty important! You don’t want to read a Movie Review about a Sci-Fi Movie from a guy who finds them to be artless garbage. In the same way, I think it’s important for you to know what I love and who I am so that you can determine if you think these blogs will be the treasure trove of Travel Tips I (and probably you) hope they will be!
So, let’s dive right in. I have traveled to 41 U.S. States and 20 different countries in my adult life. I love…
My personality is an EXTREME Extrovert, like the upper 10% of Extroverts- however, I travel with friends who may be introverted or anywhere in between. So I will draw on their experiences as well in case you aren’t quite as extroverted as me.
I typically use my extrovertedness to talk to random locals, make new friends and find all of the best local spots- that way you won’t have to! But like… don’t tell everyone 'cause we don’t want to turn the local spots into tourist spots.
When I travel, I never use a Travel Agent… I always do my own research and make my own plans. If you ever want one of my Itineraries, don’t hesitate to ask in the Contact Us or the Chat Bar! I like my trips to be chill and relaxing, so I only book tickets for things I know I need to do to be satisfied with the trip's success (Things like Machu Picchu or the Eifel Tower, or seeing the Mona Lisa). For a real-life example, I wanted to see ‘Big Ben’ but I didn’t need to go to the top of it, so no need to get a ticket (though there is always an option to do that when we are there if we want to call an audible). However, If I wanted to walk the grounds of Stonehenge- I would have bought tickets in advance because you have to… That leaves me with only a few things I have to actually plan and schedule and everything else can be done in my Exploration Time with a Game Time decision. AND if you book like this, there is free time if you find out about something you didn't even know you wanted to do!
I always look for restaurants with locally authentic and traditional menus. They aren’t always the ones you find on a web search… they require a deep dive into the social life of the locals! Another great reason to bring a group of people to write these blogs, because some of the most amazing things we found… weren’t found by me. One of my buddies talked to a local who gave us the rundown. I also thrive on trying the weird dish you can’t/don’t see in the United States. I am an eat everything kind of guy - so guinea pig, cockroaches, shark and blood pudding… I must try them all…
I always look for the booming part of town and try to stay in the center of it, because I prefer to walk as often as I can (Saves money on taxis and is healthier). This is absolutely true when it comes to big new cities. I just don’t think you can really appreciate the city if you are riding around in a car. With exception to the multi-decker bus as long as the top is gone and your view is not impeded. Multi-deckers, would recommend, five-stars. That being said, when you DO have to use some form of transportation, I ALWAYS recommend something you don’t do all the time, ie. train, subway/underground, boat/ferry, bike, multi-decker, horseback or helicopter if you have that kind of money. (Also, if you want to sponsor me or adopt me with all that money… I’m in :-) )
I always use the nightlife to destroy my liver while prepping for the next day's adventures. Nightlife is huge for us, so I will give you all of the fun tips I learn from where the party is, to where the after party is, to where you can snack on your way home (it’s chicky-nuggies for drunk me… her name is Brianna… she’s the worst…)
And last but not least, I will do all that I can to impart to you the most economical tips 4 trips to make your travel and adventure EVERYTHING it possibly can be!! From appointing the ‘momma’ of the group (that’s me cause I'm OCD when it comes to planning an adventure) to figuring out how to pay and where to stay… I’m here (and also there) and I got you!
So let’s start planning that adventure… or getting inspired for the next one!! As we look forward to a brighter tomorrow!!
